Because of the current wave of foreclosures sweeping across communities in the United States, municipalities are grappling with the issue of unmaintained vacant properties in their area. To assist them in locating the parties responsible for maintaining these types of properties, MERS® System members can enter property preservation contacts for each loan registered on the system.
